  • Woof! Writers on Dogs (Viking) is a collection of original essays, featuring pithy observations and heartfelt confessions from the acclaimed writers who love them, while Dog Run (Viking Studio) captures the beauty and intensity of dogs at play in stunning black and white photographs. On Tuesday, November 18th at 7:30pm at Barnes and Noble in Park Slope (267 7th Ave, Brooklyn), Abigail Thomas will read from Woof! Writers on Dogs, and Michael Crouser will discuss his photographs and works from Dog Run. The event is sure to be delightful to dog lovers, art enthusiasts, and literary buffs alike.

Grab your skates and go: Today Prospect Park's 47-year-old Wollman Rink opens to the public, launching the winter ice skating season. Wollman Rick is located between the Lake and the Concert Grove in Prospect Park.


  • Story time at Blue Marble Ice Cream, every Thursday morning at our Atlantic Avenue shop, from 10:30am - 12:00pm. Please join us for selections from our local Library Branch. Parents and caretakers are welcome, along with tots ages 1-5.
Books will vary based on age group as follows:
1's and 2's from 10:30am-11:00am
2's and 3's from 11:00am-11:30am
3's and 4's from 11:30am-12:00pm.
Story time is a complimentary event, with a $3 minimum purchase at the counter


  • Brookyn Reading Works: Can We Trade In Our Kid for a New One? November 20 at 8 p.m.. Michael Winks’ absurdist comedy “Baby Love,” takes an acerbic look at two self-absorbed parents who can’t be bothered to tend to a cranky baby. They trade him for a “grownup” baby who progresses in his development at such a speed, they hope to have him off to college in a matter of months! But to quote Radiohead, the “Karma Police” will have their way with this couple. Oh, Baby!

  • Totally Tots at the Children's Brooklyn Museum reopens Sat, Nov 22nd.
For those under 18 months, explore the Baby Hub, a vibrant oasis filled with bright colors, playful shapes, and padded structures that provide a safe place to practice crawling, standing, and taking first steps. For those older than 18 months, check out Water Wonders, a water play area anchored by a large pond with built-in toys for pouring, measuring, and redirecting the flowing stream. Check it out here.
The exhibit also includes great resources for grown-ups, including the Parent Junction with articles and tips on local activities, nutrition, literacy, and more.

    St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble: "Reel Music"
