SCOPE THE SLOPE: Hootenanny Art House - Art & Music for Kids & Grown-ups

There aren’t many places where both kids and adults can explore their penchants for artistic and musical fare. Hootenanny Art House is the perfect solution. It is a creative family art center that offers the Music Together program as well as art and dance classes for kids. An open family art studio is offered on Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm.

Grown-ups can take part too, with guitar, singing, yoga, and belly dancing classes. They can also kick back during the Hootenanny Art House ‘After Hours’ Artists Series. The second installment in the ongoing Artists Series is Saturday, April 5th. 8pm. This night features bold contemporary literature, spoken word, and music. The owner’s vision for the center is “to put a swinging screen door on a shared home where families can come together and engage in a vibrant creative community”.

Other upcoming events that are for the whole family are the TGIF Hooten-Dance Party!!! DJ’d by Stephen Taylor, with kid and grown up friendly food and drink, a disco ball, and music that’ll groove you and your little one. The whole family/ all ages/ nannies/ EVERYONE is invited! $10-$20 sliding scale per family. FRIDAY, APRIL 25TH AND MAY 30TH 4 TILL 6 PM

Hootenanny Art House is also having an art opening of Gwynne Duncan Paintings on Sunday April 6th, 4-6pm with live music. The paintings will be on display from April 5- May 3, 2008 (Open Saturdays 3-5pm). The painting shown here is called "Empress". To view all of Gwynne Duncan’s paintings go to: www.gwynneduncan.com
