“Park Slope resident John Hodgman — you may know him from “The Daily Show,” or the “PC” from those ubiquitous Apple ads — reads from his new book of fake facts, More Information Than You Require, at the Slope’s Barnes and Noble at 7:30pm.”
The Perch CafĂ©: The Charistmatic Megaphonic String Orchestra, 365 5th Ave. (Dec 10, 6:30pm – 8:00pm) an old-time string band with a modern twist. Its members are Park Slope's own Bilger family--Burkhard Bilger on guitar, Jennifer Nelson on violin and accordion, Hans Bilger (13) on stand-up bass, and Ruby Bilger (10) on vocals and percussion. Their friend and spiritual leader Michael Abrams plays ukulele and the youngest Bilger--Evangeline (5)--occasionally joins in on songs about chickens. The band plays an uproarious mixture of folk songs, novelties tunes, and rock-and-roll classics, filtered through their own sweet but slightly skewed sensibilities.

The Green Loop Gallery Hop buses will be staffed with art docents to inform you about Brooklyn’s vibrant art scene and to distribute smART tip sheets containing important information about buying and collecting art.

Big Movies For Little Kids: Juguemos A Cantar has started up a family movie (G-rated) event on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the winter season. It's $6 per person. Check out the Big Movies for Little Kids series that will be held every other Monday at Cobble Hill Cinemas at 4 p.m. The series features classic films aimed at ages 2-7.

BAX PLAYSPACE ages 1-4 | 10 kids maximum (Mondays & Fridays, Now thru December 19, 2008 (9:30am-11:30am - $10 per family. Activities include hoops, tunnels, coloring, balls, books and are with the help of the Playcare facilitator. Half-Off Fridays at Wollman Rink! Enjoy 50% off regular paid admission to Wollman Rink every Friday. Every Friday during skating season, 8:30 am - 10 pm.
